A WEDDING MUSICIAN'S WOE - MIDAS HOTEL

March 2, 2012

The performance was done for an elegant wedding at the Midas Cafe and told that I have to get the fee on Monday being a working day for it was handled by the purchasing department of Midas Hotel knowing that we would be paid that same night but dismay befell me and what can I do but to come back for our minimal fee as wedding musicians.

Then, Monday came and went to claim our fee coming from afar just to settle but it was so frustrating being told that the check had to be prepared. Before hand, I was told that they would pay as in cash. I spitted my dismay that for a small amount they have to make hard for us musicians to claim what was due us. I couldn’t do more so went home feeling disgusted.

Then on, I kept following if the check was ready but it had to be signed yet and the signatories were still busy. That fair reasoning annoyed me that much but still gained my composure.

I waited until Friday because I was told it would be ready by then. Reaching the accounting department I went to claim my check but it was named Augustine Music and Events instead of Mario Lupato which I told them to put, so I could not encash it because my bank account name is Mario Lupato. I asked the lady who attended me if there was a way for me to have it in my name and said that I have to wait until Friday. I suggested that they type my name above Augustine Music and Events but she argued that signatories still were needed and they have to wait for them to do sign.

I didn’t leave yet thinking there might be another solution to this. The lady didn’t even bother to let me sit and kept answering the phone never paying attention to my dilemma. Then, once again told me that they couldn’t do anything. Maybe, the chief accountant felt that I wanted to settle this problem that same day and went to the cashier department if something to be done. At least, she had little understanding rather than the other lady.

With the help of JOANNE, I happened to ask her name, to give me the cash instead. Without her I would be troubling following up our talent fee again and again. When she said to pay me cash instead, my trouble was over.

I WANT TO THANK HER THROUGH THIS BLOG FOR SHE IS A PERSON WHO UNDERTSTANDS SOMEONE’S TROUBLE.

TO YOU JOANNE, FROM MIDAS HOTEL ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT, THANK YOU SO MUCH AND MAY THE BEST IN LIFE BE YOURS.

ELEGANT WEDDING AT MIDAS HOTEL

February 25, 2012
A wedding memory recalled of around 50 guests mostly relatives and close friends with simple wedding reception program and more of songs and music made it elegant, to my opinion of a wedding we've been part of. The first time in my weddings I've been where lavish display of all international dishes spread out in the vast cafe of Midas Hotel, formerly Hyatt Regency Hotel. It was a grand feast.

For sure, they not only enjoyed our music with two other performers invited who did some beautiful numbers taking time off after performing for a time from the ceremony till parts of dinner. This was a union of a Chinese and Fillipina who are obviously in love and surely their wedding vow is kept.

STANDARD RECEPTION SONGS

February 16, 2012

Light festive songs have their certain flavor when performed for any event, especially weddings where guests are many and entertainment is gauge to fit their tastes. But that is hard and performing safe is a solution by doing standard songs and music that ring bells to their ears.

Light festive music or songs still are favorites. The lilting sound and easy beats create a certain feel in the air as the guests are having dinner or having casual talk with one another. No event for that matter will not include some sound during the affair or in any place where festivity reigns. There is music or songs played as the party goes.

Even formal affair does not restrict the kind of music played but the style of performing a piece is maintained. No noise, please by singing so loud or banging the keyboard to your delight. Controlled performance is a must to gain appreciation and accolade. We are not in an open field to rock the boat. We are in a formal gathering with chosen guests gracing the affair.

And chosen program fits the flow with background music adding sentiments as it progresses and when the program is over I think this is the time to party by having dance music and now the time to untangle hair and loosen buttons a bit.

Sometimes, you can determine the personality of a person by the music he or she listens to. Relaxed people choose the melodic tunes of a love song. Confused people like the noisy tunes  like rock and the romantic at heart likes  cool music with those easy beats. Obviously, the refined ones love classical music. Well, these are obvious and a nice way to know what fits you, too.

WEDDING DESTINATION - SECRET GARDEN

February 2, 2012
THE WEDDING CEREMONY WAS HELD AT THE SANTO NINO PARISH CHURCH THAT TOOK ALMOST TWO HOURS TO FINISH AND GOING TO THE WEDDING RECEPTION VENUE TOOK US AN HOUR DUE TO TRAFFIC AND TIMELY FOR A DINNER PARTY.

THE PROGRAM STARTED NEARLY 7PM AMIDST THE SIMPLICITY OF THE PLACE OF WILD LEAVES, SOME TREES AND FLOWERS ADORNING A STONED VENUE RESEMBLING A SORT OF HIDDEN GARDEN. QUITE A PLACE TO REMEMBER WITH JUST THE NAME AS STRIKINGLY REMEMBERED LIKE THAT FAMOUS MOVIE.

WE COORDINATED THE EVENT OF 150 GUESTS AND MORE AS IT EXCEEDED THE  GUEST LIST BUT MANAGED TO HANDLE THEM WITH ALL ACTIVITIES DURING THE WEDDING RECEPTION PROGRAM AS WE HANDLED EVERYTHING.

THIS IS ANOTHER WEDDING DESTINATION TO RECOMMEND NEAR THE PLACE, OF COURSE.

WEDDING DESTINATION - THUNDERBIRD RESORT, SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION

January 23, 2012
SUPPOSEDLY, I WILL GO WITH MY MUSICIANS THIS DAY TO THUNDERBIRD RESORT FAR NORTH BUT BECAUSE OF PRESSING ENGAGEMENT I CAN'T. AFTER ALL INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN, THEY LEFT EARLY. THEY WERE EAGER TO INCLUDE SUCH ITINERARY AS ANOTHER WEDDING MEMORY FOR PLACES HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES ARE DELIGHT TO GO TO ESPECIALLY IF PERFORMANCE IS CALLED FOR LIKE MY WEDDING MUSICIANS WERE TO BE INVOLVED WITH.

THE SERVICE TO BE HANDLED WILL BE A CHRISTIAN WEDDING ALONG THE VENUE OF A MEDITERRANEAN RESORT CALLED THUNDERBIRD. GOING THERE THROUGH BUS TAKES 6 TO 7 HOURS AND IF BY PRIVATE CAR TAKES AROUND 5 HOURS OR LUCKILY LESS BUT IF YOU TAKE YOUR TIME SAME AS 6 HOURS RIDING LEISURELY.

AS I WAS WRITING THIS, MY MUSICIAN CALLED ME THAT THEY WERE AT THE STATION IN SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION. THEY TOOK THE PARTAS BUS AND TOOK THAT FAST TO REACH THE PLACE? AROUND 4 HOURS. THEY WILL BE PICKED FROM THERE TO THE RESORT THAT WILL TAKE 5 MINUTES TO REACH.

NOW I AM RELIEVED. THEY CAN STILL REST FOR SOMETIME FOR THE 4PM WEDDING OF ENGINEER ERIC ANDAYA WHO FLEW FROM CANADA.

WEDDING COORDINATOR ON A GO - PHILIPPINE WEDDING

January 21, 2012
IT TOOK A GREAT DEAL SEARCHING FOR A VENUE SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED BY MY CLIENT ABROAD AND KEPT MAILING MY DISCOVERIES FOR HER TO DECIDE. I EVEN SPECIFIED THE DETAILS FOR HER TO COMPARE. A WEDDING RECEPTION VENUE IS EASY TO FIND BUT THE AVAILABILITY HAS TO BE PRIMARILY THOUGHT ABOUT AND DECIDE FAST BEFORE SOMEONE GETS THE SLOT, IF IT IS TO YOUR LIKING.

MY CLIENT IS ON A TIGHT BUDGET LIKE MOST BRIDES BUT SHE HAS TASTE TO SPARE FOR A CHOICE AND CONCERN IS FOR HER GUESTS TO ENJOY THE WEDDING AND REMEMBER THAT SUCH WEDDING EVENT HAPPENED. SHE DECIDED THE VENUE I LISTED WHICH IS NEAR THE CHURCH CHOSEN BY BOTH. SHE HAS SUPPLIERS ON MIND AND WANTS ME TO FOLLOW UP AND STILL COMPARES RATES FOR HER TO MINIMIZE EXPENSES BUT INSISTED ON QUALITY AND PROMISED HER THAT THE WISH IS OUR COMMAND. WHAT ARE WE HERE FOR BUT TO KNOW THE BEST, SO FAR AND POSSIBLE.

SHE DOESN'T HAVE THAT MUCH TIME AND I UNDERSTAND BECAUSE BEING ALONE FAR FROM OUR COUNTRY TAKES PRIORITIES AND SHE INTENDS TO MARRY THE MAN SHE LOVES. HER LOVE ONE IS CORRESPONDING WITH ME WITH SOME SUGGESTIONS AND RELAYS THEM TO HIS DEAR ONE.

THEY ARE BOTH OUT OF THE COUNTRY BUT STILL THINK OF A WEDDING BUDGET. WHO DOESN'T WHEN IT COMES TO A BIG AFFAIR LIKE WEDDING?

WHAT'S NEXT? I HAVE THEM AT HAND AND FINISH THEM OFF BEFORE KEEPING THROUGH NOTES. PREPARING A WEDDING IS SUCH A DELIGHT.

WEDDINGS AND BEYOND – AUGUSTINE MUSIC AND EVENTS

January 16, 2012

Weddings and Beyond Bridal Fair slated on January 14 and 15 started the year with a blast. It was hugely received as guests kept pouring in to attend to their wedding needs with a wide array of suppliers that sprouted in PICC forum.  Though it coincided with another bridal exhibit at the Mall of Asia, Weddings and Beyond pulled through with greater mark, obviously. And proud to say that I had the time with my ware exhibited.

My observations centered to some points need mentioning. A certain lady by the name of Marianne made us comfortable by moving around and asking sincerely if we were okay. That simple gesture dictated that personnel of Weddings and Beyond have that distinct advantage through what we call personalized service. Second point was during the ingress and egress, they were not intimidating when it came to that point. I felt relaxed with bringing in and out my needed materials for the exhibit. Third point was all suppliers were handed a tikoy for Chinese New Year is near. Imagine how many suppliers attended. But it serves as a promotion, one thing sure. Fourth point I would blankly say that this was a colossal event and they started it right.

I had fun moving around, too and saw varied tastes as they arranged their booths. Some made it so grand that spoke their success as suppliers. Few had simple booths, like mine but managed to hand my leaflets which was my paramount concern to at least know that Augustine Music and Events is something worth hiring as they visit our website displaying our passion and dedication to the world of entertainment and dedicated wedding planning service.

Once again, I want to thank Marianne and the rest of Weddings and Beyond helping small suppliers like me start the year right. For sure, God provides.

HOW TO: WEDDING PLANNING | WEDDING MUSIC | WEDDING SONGS BY AUGUSTINE MUSIC AND EVENTS

January 9, 2012

The wedding at Christ The King and reception at the Tivoli Royale was ably planned by wedding coordinators of Augustine Music and Events with the participation of outstanding wedding musicians of Philippines making the event worth remembering.

All activities at the church were managed by the wedding planners, attending, too to some guests need assisting and made sure that everything run the smoothest. When the ceremony was done, two planners were assigned to attend for the seating arrangements  with another coordinator assisting guests were their tables were. Their were 250 guest  to managed and with proper handling, the show was run right.

I hosted the wedding program with the wedding coordinators guiding me all the way to make my rituals follow the way the couple wanted to happen – glasses with wine were ready when the ceremonial toast was about to happen,  guests per table were assisted for the pictorial with the couple before going to the banquet table, single ladies and single guys were gathered for the game where next groom and bride in the future were chosen.

The tandem of the coordinators and musicians of Augustine Music and Events create an event, we can say will be remembered because we see to it that our services are ably performed at par by dedicated wedding coordinators and planners with Philippine musicians who always stand out because of their passion for music.

FRENCH-FILIPINA WEDDING AT TAGAYTAY - WEDDING DESTINATION

December 30, 2011
Acoustic music was provided by wedding musicians of Augustine Music and Events at the Lourdes Church at Tagaytay depicting the old beautiful wedding music that still endears music lovers and we loved doing them. I intended to have only solo violin during the first parts of the ceremony to create a certain effect that of a French romantic setting with that clean, crisp sound of Iric Paner, one of Philippines's best violinists.

Supposedly, the wedding march song is "The Wedding", by Julie Rogers but we performed that special song during the recessional march timely finished when the couple reached the entrance door.

The reception was held at the new hotel in Tagaytay, The Lake Hotel as an outdoor wedding reception. There were drizzles when the reception begun but went on despite the temporary drizzles. A little discomforting but the celebration went on all right with prepared program by the couple.

The French guests understood all right and amazed at the overlooking site of Taal Lake, a wonder of wonders as the wedding reception went with the able hands of suppliers making the event worth the money spent. Not only wedding music made the affair memorable but the sincere involvement of the guests during the wedding reception program.

WEDDING PLANNING AT THE LOUNGE

December 25, 2011
Supposedly, it was a garden ceremony but the rain prevented the plan on December 19, 2011 scheduled for a 3:30 pm wedding. The ceremony took place at The Lounge where the reception was set. A little arrangement did the trick to do it inside the venue.

The wedding planner did a simple lay-out to make everybody comfortable because it is a small venue good for 100 guests without extra fixes for more movements. Also, the seat plan was organized so that after the ceremony they were there on the same spot where they were supposed to sit.

An improvised altar was done with the flowers all around for beauty and color and the wedding coordinator saw that they were placed properly.

The wedding musicians were positioned in a place where they could move easily for their performances and when the ceremony started did splendid musical expertise as expected from the members of AUGUSTINE MUSIC AND EVENTS for an American-Filipina Wedding.
