THE BEST WEDDING VENUE NO MORE

January 12, 2011

Whenever I happened to pass at the back of San Agustin Church going to Puerta Real memories cross my mind of the wedding venue where I started to be involved with weddings. Father Blanco's Garden then was the favorite venue for a reception in Intramuros. Until now no venue matches the splendor of the place. When we had performances there the feeling seemed different. I felt romance in the heart and when performance ensued I enjoyed the moment with my musicians playing along with me. That was more than 5 years ago but it still Father Blanco's Garden will always be a part of my music memories.

I was then resident singer of San Agustin Church and I observed the evolvement of the garden when it was still a little barren with only the ruins as backdrops but came the ingenuiety of Father Galende who made the place a heaven of sort becoming one of the attractions besides the famous San Agustin Museum. I also owe a great deal becoming a part of San Agustin even it was accidental and forced to join the music department becoming one the Cantores of the church. It was there I happened to listen to great Philippine Opera singers guesting for weddings. It was there I began to appreciate classical music. When I started singing at the church microphones were not allowed. Even guest singers were not provided one. I learned to project somehow. Guest celebrities could hardly sing without microphones but that was a rule and nobody could break it. That was also the reason why opera singers were mostly the ones invited to sing because even without a microphone they can project their voices.

Concerts were often done at the ruins of San Agustin Church, a portion of Father Blanco's Garden and every now and then film shootings were made there because of the intense romance of the air and less noise nearby being a bit secluded haven. But those were the days.

Now the place is turned into a seminary recluse that nobody can just access . It is now a private place and even relatives or friends of the seminarians can't just come in. There is a designated place for visitors. It is not easy anymore to indulged in the splendor of the haven we used to be most of the times

but still on my mind there is a heaven somewhere. And that is Father Blanco's Garden.

A WEDDING CEREMONY AND RECEPTION AT BEST: AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER

January 11, 2011

A point in life where two people decide to fulfill their hearts' desire and join as one is the paramount act of deciding a new chapter in life called marriage. This is a test of another travail to be shouldered not only by one person but two. Now the challenge is stronger like the wedding song simply states that a love affair is forever to remember

A wedding affair happened at The Pavillon of Oasis – A Christian Wedding of two people who are honestly in love with each other and after a year of doubts and fears are finally safe in a shelter of enlightenment. No more fear or doubts for they passed the test of time and here they are in God's blessing.

It was an afternoon Christian Affair with more than a hundred guest sincerely joining the blessed ceremony as Migz and Rhedz as fondly called exchanged vows with ardent pronouncement of their hearts' content for this very day – their special day. Their friends, relative and especially their parents ardently wished them the best. That's the safest way to say but I observed that everybody were relaxed in their thoughts. They were not there not just to partake the sumptous meal prepared but their presence spell magic for the couple. A very special gesture of participation enough to call the affair grand.

Beautiful music was shared by Augustine Music as chosen by the couple that reflects a part of their soul and it is palpable from their choices. Music gave them a certain explanation of what life is.

How beautiful was the start of it all as music began with giving thanks to the Lord when “Give Thanks” was performed then another Christian music followed when procession begins. The song “How Beautiful” speaks of the beauty of love as a universal feeling. Then another music was used during a part of the ritual, the very popular “I Will Be Here”, a hymn to the Lord. And ending the ceremony with the pop hit, “A Moment Like This”. Such a glorious ceremony and everybody was enthralled.

The reception began after some minutes when things around were redone and it went very well because everybody who were part of the celebration were honest with intentions to add gaiety. The flavor of making the affair something to cherish by the couple who are truly in love – deep love as I observed from both.

The happiness we shared to the newlyweds was enough to keep us peace. And to end my scribble is the famous jargon – CONGRATULATIONS!

A BIG WEDDING AFFAIR AT FERNBROOK GARDENS - AUGUSTINE MUSIC

January 11, 2011

The wedding was scheduled for 4 pm but ceremony began at 4:30 in Fernbrook Gardens Chapel – Notre Damne Di Chapelle amidst a lush fresh decors adorning the quaint place mesmerizing romance. It was a marriage of two different cultures that of a Chinese and Pilipino but observing the parents, relative and friends they were of equal foot in breeding and perhaps in wealth. The Hsu-Manabat Nuptials was one big affair.

The guests were dressed to the T and their fortune showed by the way they act and speak. In short – BREEDING. It really showed magnificently and you could smell good life. I've been to numerous weddings and this one is different. All right, the program was long but most stayed. They live nearby, maybe and considering it is a bit far from the metro. You can reach the place either with your own transport or a taxi and the haven is quite exclusive.

The moment you step on the covered area reveals a certain drama. A French Dressed Woman with a tall white bred dog is reminescent of Irma La Duce but something of the higher class. The dog and the woman reflects the motif of the place. It is a toast of French and Italian but more of the elegance mirrored specially standing amidst the tall fountain of endless flow. And most color you see around is gold.

Well, we were there to provide what passion is to us – performing beautiful music mostly requested by the couple. Their music list was good. They have varied tastes when it comes to this juncture but still best music stands and that gives us edge because we love to perform them. What we have in mind always is to give what they really need. Their good music choice counts and we are there to perform the best we can even we've been tired from a travail to and fro. The only thing matters is we made them happy and their guests enjoyed our presence.

This is a bit telling of the affair of the Hsu-Manabat Wedding because this one party was obviously prepared. Every bit and pieces of activities were measured to exact their expectations but as the saying goes, “there will never be a perfect wedding.” But this one is almost.

WEDDING SONGS AND OTHER WEDDING MUSIC AT BEST

January 11, 2011

The beauty of performance is called when proper music is opted and that depends what a couple really feels when it comes to music for their wedding. The younger couple getting married choice of music centers more to the romantic older classics familiar to them while the elder couple more often wants the newer songs mostly revival. Revivals are in. The new song mostly aired are revivals. The old standard classics are given certain touch through a performance but church music has to be considered differently. Always safe to perform church music hymnal with reverence. Hymns are the upper class music and they are appropriate for special wedding events.

Still, popular church songs are requested more. There are not much choice for Catholic weddings because there is a certain standard when it comes to liturgical pieces and church authorities maintain it that way and it is not safe to contradict their beliefs. Anyway, best choices are put into their music archives.

Lead Me Lord” by Neal Morse still tops the list as one of the favorites for soon-to-be couple. It is vastly popular even for Christian marriages and for churchgoers. The beauty of the song is its universal message and easy beats. You can perform it free style but don't forget the reverence put across. If you sing just to fulfill an obligation, this is not the song for you. When you sing always think the message it imparts and for sure you have done a kind of share of what music and singing is all about.

One Hand, One Heart” taken from the broadway musical West Side Story has been touted as the most inspirational wedding song and is widely used as an Offertory Song for Catholics and Christians. The message is pure love. That love encompasses life and death. That there is love even death. If you listen to this song, it tells all the meaning of the word LOVE. The melody is entirely lyrical and the beauty of the song endears after hearing it the first time. This is one of the most recommended wedding song ever.

Not much telling and if you feel like listening to versions of the song, the internet offers hugely. Just feel free to select what best for you. You alone can differentiate euphonically.

Well, this a bit of information sharing and as internet user the joy of imparting what I feel and observed right is a natural expression from an artist.
